The gig economy has made it possible for employees across the world to take control of their employment. From side jobs such as Uber that help people earn extra money to freelance careers that allow people to leave corporate life and strike out on their own, more people than ever are taking on contract work. Our friends at content marketing agency, CopyPress, wanted to talk to freelance writers (along with marketers and agencies) to learn more about the industry and where it stands, so it created the State of Content Marketing white paper. The report looked at the content marketing landscape through the eyes of the creatives and marketers. Who better to talk about the current content marketing ecosystem through an infographic?!
Content Marketing Ecosystem distilled
Almost 65 percent of respondents to their survey said they work full-time, but only 14 percent said they work more than 40 hours per week. The majority of respondents (40 percent) said they work between 21 and 40 hours per week. This proves that the definition of full-time is changing. Instead of meaning a set number of hours per week, as Americans have traditionally defined it, people are referring to their main job, or primary source of income, as their full-time job.The Current Content Marketing Ecosystem: check out this cracking infographic!Click To Tweet
More than half of respondents said that writing is their primary source of income. Almost 70 percent of respondents said that they earned less than $20,000 last year as a freelancer, and only 6 percent of respondents earned more than $90,000 in the field. When asked whether they were satisfied with their pay rates, 32 percent said they were happy with what they earned (on a per-word basis), and 25 percent were unhappy.
